Cushing disease due to pituitary adenoma

Cushing disease due to pituitary adenoma is a form of ACTH-dependent Cushing syndrome. It is caused by a small, benign tumor on the pituitary gland that produces too much adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH). This extra hormone production can disrupt the normal balance of hormones in the body. Because the condition leads to chronic over-secretion of ACTH, it causes the adrenal glands to produce more cortisol, which can affect many body functions. People with this condition experience hormonal imbalances due to the tumor in the pituitary gland.
