Acro-pectoro-renal field defect is a very rare condition that involves a combination of physical features affecting the chest, hands, and kidneys. This condition is characterized by the unilateral absence or underdevelopment of the pectoralis major muscle (often the sternocostal head) along with hand anomalies such as short fingers (brachydactyly), missing thumb, and underdeveloped or fused fingers. In addition to these features, there may be anomalies in the genito-urinary system, including underdeveloped or absent kidneys, a duplicated collecting system, obstruction at the point where the ureter meets the kidney, abnormal opening location of the urethra (hypospadias), and undescended testicles. Because multiple body regions are involved, the range and severity of signs can vary among affected people.

People with this condition may show a lack or underdevelopment of chest muscles on one side, which might be visible on physical examination. They can also have differences in the structure of their hands, such as shorter fingers or missing digits. In addition, there may be problems with the kidneys and other parts of the urinary system.

The exact cause of acro-pectoro-renal dysplasia is not well understood. It appears to occur during fetal development, affecting several parts of the body at once. Information about the genetic factors or specific risk factors is currently limited for this condition.
