Stormorken-Sjaastad-Langslet syndrome is characterized by thrombocytopathy, asplenia, miosis, muscle fatigue, migraine, dyslexia, and ichthyosis. It has been described in six members of one family. It is transmitted as an autosomal dominant trait.
Features include always present findings: Elevated creatine kinase (muscle enzyme) (elevated circulating creatine kinase concentration), Elevated LDH (tissue damage marker) (increased circulating lactate dehydrogenase concentration), Prominent nose, and Stroke-like episode; and very common findings: Short stature, Low red blood cell count (anemia), Miosis, and Asplenia and others. 32 total HPO annotations.
Organ System | Phenotype Count | Example Features |
|---|---|---|
Muscles | 5 |
STIM1 function has not been fully characterized.
Stormorken syndrome is associated with mutations in the STIM1 gene on chromosome 11.
Genetic testing for STIM1 is available. Testing is considered confirmatory for diagnosis.
Biomarker and diagnostic research for Stormorken syndrome has been reported in the published literature.
Phenotype severity distribution: 4 always present features, 13 very common features, 6 common features.
Estimated prevalence: <1 in 1,000,000 (VERY_RARE).
No clinical trials have been registered for Stormorken syndrome.
172 publications have been identified in PubMed for Stormorken syndrome. Research spans Review / Meta-Analysis (49%), Basic Science / Preclinical (18%), and Case Report / Case Series (10%).
