Inflammation of the synovial lining of a tendon sheath. Causes include trauma, tendon stress, bacterial disease (gonorrhea, tuberculosis), rheumatic disease, and gout. Common sites are the hand, wrist, shoulder capsule, hip capsule, hamstring muscles, and Achilles tendon. The tendon sheaths become inflamed and painful, and accumulate fluid. Joint mobility is usually reduced.
Biomarker and diagnostic research for tenosynovitis has been reported in the published literature.
12 clinical trials registered, 8 recruiting. Interventions under study include other interventions, medical devices, and procedural interventions. Pipeline includes 1 PHASE4, 6 NA. Research is primarily sponsored by academic and government institutions.
