I became a volunteer with Healthwatch to help make change happen for others, taking part regularly to be a voice for those who needed to be heard when it comes to accessing necessary information. Following my child’s birth there were a number of issues that occurred, 11 issues in total, from being left in a corridor following surgery, being given other patients medication, staff not following protocols, security being worked on the list just grew. He explained, whilst holding my hand, that he was sorry I’d had this happen and that I was one of 2 patients he had medically and professionally diagnosed in this country (UK) to that date, Dec 3rd 2009.
