NK-cell enteropathy

NK-cell enteropathy is a benign condition involving an overgrowth of natural killer cells in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. The abnormal growth creates lesions in the mucosal layer, which can lead to minor abdominal symptoms. Because the condition shares some features with more serious lymphomas such as NK or T-cell lymphoma, it may be mistaken for these cancers during initial evaluations. However, NK-cell enteropathy is noncancerous and the symptoms, including abdominal pain, diverticulosis, constipation, and reflux, tend to be mild.

People with this condition may experience minor abdominal symptoms such as abdominal pain, diverticulosis, constipation, and acid reflux. These symptoms arise from NK cell-derived lesions in the gastrointestinal mucosa.
