Lynch syndrome 1

Lynch syndrome 1 is an inherited condition that increases the risk for several types of cancer. It is caused by changes in the MSH2 gene, which plays an important role in repairing DNA. Because of this genetic change, people with Lynch syndrome 1 have a higher chance of developing colorectal cancer without typically having many polyps. In addition, there is an increased risk for cancers of the endometrium, ovaries, stomach, small intestine, and urinary tract, often at younger ages than usual.
